1832 Tall Case Clock with Black Forest Shield Dial Movement
This movement is called a Black Forest Shield dial clock. On the back of the dial, it is signed "Joseph Hilzinger, Northampton" It is dated 8/20/31. Hilzinger was a Pennsylvania clockmaker who worked in the 1830's. The consensus among the clock experts we talked to is that the movement would have been imported from the Black Forest in Germany and Hilzinger made the case and sold the clock.
